There is a whole study of technology and history. Many scholars have pondered various historical and philosophical aspects of technology, and there are many scholarly terms that describe a variety of concepts. The invention of a technology may result in a need for professionals who are able to fix, operate and/or make that technology. As some technologies become obsolete, people may lose their jobs. If an addition or update is made to a piece of technology, professionals might find that their current base of knowledge has become outdated. Professionals in such situations may face a steep, upward learning curve when it comes to learning about newer and more relevant technologies.

As mentioned above, there is an argument about whether technological progress is good or not. The only answer to this question is that it is equally good and bad, and whether it is more bad or good depends on the situation that you are talking about. For example, if you are talking about a person surviving cancer because of advanced diagnostic techniques and surgeries, then it is quite evident that technological progress is great.
